New shirt haircut bling bling shoes I got it all for you All for you babe I travel Europe and I know some French Oh là là Comme ci comme ça I wear brands to convey social status So you know I’m a fit mate I conspicuously squander my resources For the sake of Fitness display On top of it all, I play in a band If you can’t resist, girl I would understand This music does nothing To keep me alive But that’s the point of it I wrote a song about it, it’s called Fitness Display Girl I like the way you move You from LA? No sports bra, no dog No you cannot be From San Diego I predict your genes will fit beautifully with mine Cause you’re my phenotype Wanna twist your chromosomes with mine tonight? Twist ‘em up babe

about

With their 2nd EP, TASMIC continues to distill and re-infuse their particular brand of jazz funk disco dance. Songs for Immediate Consumption (2020), expands on the musical identity forged in Sonic Bloom (2019) – just turned up a few notches! Made remotely during the COVID-19 lockdown, TASMIC’s latest features an international star-studded lineup: Montreal-based soul singer extraordinaire Clerel, dangerous Los Angeles bass player Nick Campbell, and the totally funked Hooligan Horns from across the pond. The first single, “Volleyball en Commando”, is a song about a commonly observed phenomenon in the San Diego area. Hooligan Horns turn up the volume for our best-ever variant of “Unsolicited Entertainment” – culminating in a serious horn-laden funk hoedown. “Fitness Display” features Clerel crooning playfully about the biological underpinnings of the courtship ritual. The fourth track, It’s Black Friday, unleashes a vintage-keyboard laden disco vibe which will have anyone, alive or dead, jumping straight into their dancing shoes, as fast as if everything at Walmart was free. The closing track, The Vanquished Octopus Jets Away, can simply be described as an end-of-the-world disco party fit for the masses.

TASMIC is Olivar Asselin and Dan Chown.
